The UBC project got three papers accepted for RINA’s Systems Engineering in Ship & Offshore Design in London 28 – 29 March 2012. Birger Sevaldson, Kjetil Nordby, Sashi Komandur and Sigrun Lurås presented the papers which were well received.
Something’s going on with my internal thoughts and their access by a design researcher who’s interested in drones, critique and writing. It’s as though my thoughts are being wirelessly accessed and in some sort of pingback process. But I’m just a number, not a name. It’s odd to read my own thoughts, written on screen but thought in the sky.
Following the presentation of the paper ‘Mapping of work areas in a platform supply vessel: a case study’ at the RINA conference Human factors in ship design and operation on the 17th of November 2011, the UBC project was featured in the acknowledged publication Ship & Boat International.
Earlier this summer, the Centre for Design research gladly announced that it had landed a new project. This project, named delTA, is funded by the Research Council of Norway and it aims to design and develop social web services and applications to increase civic engagement among youth. These social web services and applications will help organizations and businesses that profess a social responsibility mission create venues where youth and young adults between 15 – 25 years can engage in matters related to their society.
Birgitta Cappelen and Anders-Petter Andersson will present their paper “Designing Smart Textile for Music and Health” at the Ambience11 conference in Borås the 30. November 2011.
